My wife had an incident where her left door mirror was damaged beyond repair. She immediately went to Honda to get a quote to replace the mirror and the part only was R3 900. We registered the claim and took the vehicle for an assessment after which we were told that the cost to repair would be R2 062, 03 which is less that my excess (which increased about a month ago from R2 000 to R 2750 after only being with Discovery Insure for 6 months. I also have an excess funder account with a balance of more ore less R2 000. After not getting back to my e-mail or telephone message I left I eventually got a hold of the consultant who followed up with the assessor who told him that he sourced a second hand part for - R 1 200. Now I have to be happy to get a second hand part of another vehicle and pay R2 062, 03 instead of the difference between the new excess less my excess funder which is -R700 and get a new part!
