I received an sms on 6th July from Discovery, saying I am in arrears for R657-10. I immediately cal the no on the sms to find out how I could be in arrears, because I was forced to sign a debit order when I applied for the credit card. The call centre told me that the R657-10 was made up of an amount due end of June, and the amount due at the end of July. How can I be in arrears for part amount due end of July when it was the 8th July? She couldn't answer me. Secondly, Discovery had not processed the debit order on the 1st, as agreed to in writing, They processed it on the 2nd July, which is on my bank statement.By then my remaining funds were transferred elsewhere. You then charge me an unpaid fee of R220-00 and an arrears fee of R135-00! So, I e-mail the discoverycard to complain. They tell me it takes 3 days for a debit order to be processed. This is not my doing, that is your issue to submit debit order instructions on time to be actioned by the date agreed to. Discovery made me sign a document saying my account would be debited on the 1st of every month and have not honoured the agreement, and I refuse to be penalized for it. I demand the charges be reversed immediately.
