I am highly upset at Standard bank, with whom I have cheque account with an overdraft facility. They instantly charged a R115 from my account because I was R5 short for a debit order deduction. I have been a loyal client with them for almost 6 years and instead of honouring the payment, they returned the debit order and charged R115 rand simply because of a R5 shortage. I went to the Blue Route mall, Tokai branch to request that they reverse the R115 fee so that my debit order can be paid first and they refused. The consultant bluntly told me that even if I was a R1 short, they would still return the debit order and that all the banks would do this. I wonder about the truth in that.
My other complaint is that S.T.D bank's returned debit order fees are too high, I mean R115 really now! Why could they not exercise proper client service and reverse the unpaid debit order fee as I requested. My salary goes into the bank every month they could have deducted the R115, pay day since they are so greedy.
My other issue with S.T.D bank is that I pay R99 every month to have this cheque account and part of the service is that they used to post my statements every month, but they have now switched to
