Nedbank
Hassle Free Debit Order switching is a fallacy

Having applied for a new account telephonically in about early April, I understood that Nedbank would switch my debit orders 'hassle free' as part of the service offering. Two months or so, a few phone calls, and several emails later I am still battling to have all of my debit orders switched and I was even charged for a debit order that did not go off on time last month (that was supposed to have been switched on an agreed date). I also encountered problems completing the actual form to initiate this process partly because the call centre and other departments do not seem to work in a coordinated manner - if I am an existing account holder (current account student loan credit card) someone at the call centre should be able to just transfer my beneficiaries' details onto the switching form, but for some reason they couldn't.
Nedbank shouldn't promise things that they aren't able to deliver on just to sell products, I could have easily switched my own debit orders if I had known at the time that Hassle Free switching was a fallacy. I have banked with Nedbank for a very long time (which means nothing to South African banks), without too many problems... my loyalty is waning.
