Both these financial institutes add an amount for insurance on our monthly instalments. The one FNB - without prior notice started adding insurance, I never received a monthly statement, when I asked for one I saw the extra costs. On contacting them they ignore all my questions and gave the money back after I send them proof of insurance. The same with ABSA, only they asked via email proof of insurance and after I emailed it they still added insurance on my mothers' account. Then on the third email with all the relevant proof they send an email: We do not handle this we have to email to another email address. But the first email asked us to send proof of insurance. ABSA did not pay back the insurance as yet to my mother. Now what I want to know, how can they just list us for insurance on a vehicle if it is already insured? Why do they ignore the questions I asked? Is this legal? Don't we have to sign for insurance? Warning to all the people out there with vehicle finance, check your debit order amount every month!
