I got a consolidation loan in December 2012 from capitec bank in Butteroworth in E.C. I was told by the consultant that two of the African Bank accounts I had were settled. she however did not ask me to get settlement letters from African Bank, she claimed that she could get the balances on her system and immediately settle those accounts. I thought my accounts were settled until I recently received a call from the collections department at African Bank demanding a payment of R3900 in total for both accounts to be settled or they were going to hand me over to their legal department. I had to reverse the Capitec Bank payment in order to pay that amount. I believe Capitec Bank should have known better and requested that I get balances if their system is based only on credit report balances because everyone knows that those are not 100% accurate. Anyway that is done and now I get calls everyday from collections at Capitec Bank demanding the payment that I reversed, what did they expect me to do? How was I going to settle the accounts that they told me they had settled and still pay them in the same month? This is disappointing and unfortunate. Bad service goes a long way! its wrong!!
