DEBIT CARD RENEWAL FIASCO

Report: Renewal of Debit Card at ABSA Bank Brooklyn Pretoria
My ABSA Bank Debit Card became worn and un useable due to age and use and I decided to go to ABSA Bank in Brooklyn to renew my Debit Card.
On Thursday 2 May 2013 I went to the Brooklyn Pretoria branch Customer Service counter.
I went through the motions of the renewal of my card, which took some time as the computer appeared to be having problems reading the chip on the card.
The next day I used my card to buy goods and it did not work.
I went back to the bank on Saturday morning, 4 May. Eventually, the new card was replaced with another new card and we started the whole reloading process over again. The card appeared to work on the ATM and I left the bank.
I went to buy goods and the card did not work.
It would appear that the equipment such as computers and the quality of the cards is of such a low quality that failure rate of this equipment is very high. The concern is that the Bank has had two days to issue a card and going back to the queue is not going to accomplish any more than has been accomplished up to now.
I am of the firm opinion that the ABSA Bank is incapable of issuing a working Debit card.
