Absa
Breach of Contract

My vehicle has been financed with ABSA AVAF since January 2011. I have had my own comperhensive vehicle insurance with a known insurance company since the inception of my finance contract. Everything went smoothly with ABSA, in January 2013 I decided to move my cheque account over as well. (Although the switch didn't go that well with missed debits etc) I am now faced with another problem, on 25 April 2013, my AVAF installment was debited with an extra R308. Upon enquiring this, which took 30 min of my day and being transferred from agent to agent, I was informed that this extra R308 is for ABSA insurance. Seriously, my current insurance is up to date and I don't even require shortfall cover as the amount financed is less than my vehicles value. I'm so busy during my work day that I do not get an opportunity to sit on the phone for 30 min in order to resolve an issue I didn't create. I've been told by the AVAF consultant that I need to fax proof of my current insurance in order to cancel this but what I would like to know is who at ABSA loaded an insurance policy onto my AVAF contract because I surely didn't approve this. Please contact me as a matter of urgency!
